This file contains two new textclasses to be used with LyX.

egs.cls This textclass is for EGS journals. Read it for details.

egs.layout The corresponding file for LyX.

ejour2.cls Textclass for Springer-Verlag 2-column journals.
I (Martin Vermeer) hacked this for LaTeX2e; the original was
provided by Springer for LaTex 2.09.

It is probably copyrighted in some way, but intended to
be used to produce Springer journal papers.
If you use it for that, Springer will hardly object.

Bug reports on this 2e version to ME: mv@fgi.fi.

ejour2.layout The corresponding file for LyX.

INSTALLATION:

1. Place the .cls files into the TeX directory tree; run "texhash"
to update filename database. (For certain versions of TeX,
including Red Hat and Slackware, i.e. teTeX).

2. Place the .layout files into their proper place in the LyX
   templates directory.

3. find the file chkconfig.ltx, and edit it with vi to include
the new class definitions; use existing entries to guide you.

4. Run "latex chkconfig.ltx", and you are set.

5. Fire up LyX, open the Layout/Document/Class menu, and egs and ejour2
   should be there!

6. Pull also down the styles list to see what new styles you've got.
Open the example files 97vienna*.lyx, and LEARN BY DOING!

GOOD LUCK!
