Message-ID: Sender: news@gwdu03.gwdg.de (USENET News System) Nntp-Posting-Host: ksr1.gwdg.de Organization: GWDG Goettingen, F.R.Germany Date: 4 Aug 93 19:51:46 Lines: 26 Just for the record - in the days of the VAX 11/780 I wrote a (cheap & dirty) RT11(V4.?)-emulator based on the 780's compatibility mode, under which I at least could cross-compile for a lonely LSI-11. When the compatibility mode was dying out, I rolled my own "LSI-11" emulator (w/o I/O page) in VAX MACRO - quite a bit slower than DEC's thing (used with VAX/RSX), but in turn much smaller (DEC's was about 1 MByte of code, unbelievably huge in the olden days!). One of my favorite VAX benchmarks was running a certain ("NHD" Fortran) Fourier transform under this emulator ;-) Right now, for the sake of that benchmark only, I'm trying to port that program to the Alpha - but don't hold your breath, I made heavy use of (VAX) "MOVPSL" which has to be replaced (I think) in order to get the condition codes right, and so far I have only a guest account on an Alpha ... P.S. I very rarely read this group, so please CC: me in your replies. Wolfgang J. Moeller, GWDG, D-37018 Goettingen, F.R.Germany | Disclaimer ...
